Telebrands is most famous for their “As Seen on TV” products. Bringing audiences everywhere innovative and affordable products for over 25 years, Telebrands features products such as the Aluma Wallet, the Chef Basket and the Comfy Control Harness.
Telebrands’ current founder and CEO is Ajit J. Khubani. Khubani first started out working in his father’s import business. While he was there, Khubani decided to experiment with print advertising in the Nation Enquirer. He only broke even during the endeavor, but it proved to be a valuable learning experience for later in life.
After his experience in New York City with his father, Khubani moved on to bigger and better things: the world of television and infomercials. In 1987, he produced 3 infomercials for different products. One product, AmberVision, sold more than $15 million pairs. The next year, in 1988, Khubani made his move. Realizing that most people who were doing direct television marketing were ignoring what else was out there, he decided to find out what else was out there. Starting with AmberVision glasses, he began his endeavor into the retail world by making a deal with Herman’s Sporting Goods. AmberVision was a hit and this product was quickly followed up by Magic Hangers and Jack LaLanne Mini Stepper. The “As Seen on TV” company was born using direct television marketing strategies as well as retail marketing in stores.
This marketing strategy has fueled Telebrands’ success around the world. Ajit J. Khubani was the first CEO to establish a location in Mumbai, India for a company of this kind which enabled him to successful target the Indian market. The company has also launched Telebrands UK to reach the European market place and does have plans to open more international locations in the near future.
